My last blog post,

In Social Studies were working on Countries and physical regions. Right now in class were working on an activity where you pick out a province in Canada and do all types of research on it. We have this sheet that asks you questions about your province and you research the questions and find out the answers about it. I'm not done mine yet, but all I have to do is colour the cover and then I'll be done. In math were working on multiplication and mad minutes. Recently at the end of January Miss Hall gave us 60 multiplication questions instead of 50. It dosen't seem any harder to me but it might be for someone else. Soon in February were going to be working on more of the human body. And lastly in language were reading books about bullying. There are three books in total, the first one we read was called WEIRD, and the second one was called DARE but we havent read it yet. Were supposed to be reading it on Wednesday, and the third one is called TOUGH, but I don't know when we'll be reading that one. Well this is my last blog post, I had a great time and I hope to do it again some time. BYE!

Valentines Day, a day of love, celebration, and joy! I just going to write about exiting stuff in February! Okay, first we shall talk about 1D, (Sadly) Apparently it's Harry Style's birthday. Big whoop. Let's move on!! Oops. I hope Rylee S. didn't hear me.

Now more about Valentines Day; I think at school it will be card exchange, candy hearts, same old, same old. BUT Miss Hall always make stuff more fun!! So I hope Valentines Day will be 'extremely epic'! I hope I get a card back for the Great Canadian Mail Race! OMG! LIKE SERIOUSLY!
Sorry, lost my cool for a second :). Okay byebyebyebyebye.

Not Bad
This week was really chatty but it wasn’t too bad. It was pretty good but knowing some people it got chatty. It is great when it’s silent but it can get a little boring but there are more sounds. It’s not my favourite time when it’s loud but at least some time’s it is quiet. Friday is my favourite day of the week because there is no school the next day. Most of my class says 1D suck’s, but I like there song’s there not bad. This week is awesome but it’s not too bad. Well bye

Blog Post

Today I have something very important to write about it's Harry Styles birthday. For his birthday you were supposed to write Hazza on your wrist I think I am the only one who did too bad Rylee isn't here I'm sure she would. I have no problem remembering their birthdays I remember all of them! Niall's is September 13,1993 Zayn's is December,1993 Liam's is August,29,1993 Louis's is December,24, 1991 and obviously Harry's is February,1,1994 (TODAY) I know so much about one direction I have nothing else to learn about them.

I know where they are from I know their favourite colours their favourite apps on their phones and so much more but I know you don't like one direction so I won't bother you but I can't go from one topic to another so I have to keep talking about one direction.

Video Game Streak

On the weekend I want to start a winning streak on Halo 4 against my brother. My brother looks soft and sweet but when it comes to video games it is hard to beat him for real.so on the weekend I want to start a streak against him he knows how to talk trash to me but he is wrong. I will beat him to get it .Next is WWE13 im good at it but better then him. It does not mean I can beat him he won in a 6 man cage match.

A Long Overdue Update

With February comes my goal to increase my blog entries. I have been updating the class website regularly with what we are learning in the curriculum and upcoming events, but blog posts have certainly gone by the wayside. With this wonky weather, indoor recesses and meetings,  it's even been difficult to get Owen and Christina to do their updates because I have not been available on my recesses :(

The weekly report continues to provide more detail on what we are learning and working on, but here are a few proud moments that I wanted to share with you:
  • I was away on Friday as my son had an appointment at McMaster. I want to thank Hailey for taking the time to ask if he was okay.
  • I brought in new fidgets, mints, gum, and prize box awards. I very much appreciated Makenna, who made a point to say thank you.
  • Cassandra brought a tear to my eye when she showed compassion and kindness in her Tribe card
  • Speaking of tears, thanks to Owen who had to takeover reading for me when we got near the end of Hannah's Suitcase.
  • I was happy with the improvements made by Ethan and Kaden with the supply teacher. You both received a glowing report!
  • Thank you to Madison and Cannon who have been putting forth more effort on their assignments since coming back from the break. It really shows!
  • As a class we realized that our larger Tribe groups weren't working so we moved into smaller ones. I was proud of the way it was handled, especially to Tyler and Dalton who were able to make mature self-reflective choices.
  • Thanks to Amy who brought in extra jerseys on Jersey Day.
  • Thanks to everyone who offers to help when they have free time or at recesses. It is always appreciated and it makes my life a lot easier.
A reminder that report cards go home on Thursday. This week, students will be evaluating me again and setting their Term 2 goals. I am interested in seeing what students choose. Based on their Tell Me Tuesday writing assignment in their Homework Book, I think that self-reflection has certainly come a long way since September! Great job Grade 4/5s.

Maybe report card writing is getting to my head?

Have a great weekend everyone!

2013

I've always found it odd how time works, the way it is the year 2012 one minute and the next it is a whole other year! I had a wonderful holiday (thank you Tristen for asking) filled with family, friends, food, and SLEEP. Oh how I loved my naps with Brennan and I certainly could have used one today. We were quite busy even on our first day back. The class did really well as they came in to a new layout...our TRIBES groups. Throughout the month of January we will be working on getting to know our Tribe members better so that we can begin more focused group learning in February.

With all the Christmas festivities we didn't end up finishing Number the Stars so we will be doing that within the next week. We have two shorter units coming up in Math in Data Management and Measurement. In Social Studies we are going to look at the government and the rights and responsibilities of being a citizen in Canada. We had fun painting tessellations in Art today as we looked at the effect of mixing white or black to a primary or secondary colour. Next week we will be finger painting with our new skills to recreate art by Eric Carle. I will be busy working on report cards throughout January as they go home on February 7th.

A lot of stuff came home today, I hope it all got to you:
               - a thank you card for the incredibly generous and thoughtful cards and gifts I was showered with on the last day of school. Thank you for thinking of me.
               - milk order form
               - January homework book calendar (it is now posted on the class website)
               - January In the News calendar (I didn't send them home on the 20th as I had initially planned so that they weren't lost over the holiday. I informed students that if they were to present tomorrow or Wednesday that they could do so on Thursday or Friday if it wasn't convenient)
              - some students had a bit of homework as they were adjusting to having to manage their time being back at school

Upcoming events are posted on the class website. Our next assembly is this Friday when Mike Strange is coming in to speak with the school about his Box Run across Canada!!

I hope everyone had a fun and relaxing holiday. My school New Years Resolution is to get back to being more regular with the blog posts and to improve on posting work and pictures starting in February. What's yours?

. . . . . . . . . . .

In the spirit of kindness and giving, Amy came in today with extra recorders for those students who didn't have one for Music class.

Tristen came up to me part way through the day and said, "I didn't notice anyone asking you and I felt bad. How was your Christmas?"

What wonderful people we have our classroom. Thank you for making my day.

And Merry Christmas to Nathan who was celebrating his Serbian Christmas with his family this evening.
